Understanding God as our Father is central to our faith, unlocking a deeper capacity for worship. I’ll never forget that moment in the upper room when I realized I hadn’t fully known God as Father. As I expressed this to Him, His love poured into my heart, bringing tears and an incredible sense of peace. It was revealing, comforting, and refreshing all at once, as if He had been waiting to show Himself in this way. Romans 8:15 declares, “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father’” (NKJV). This spirit of adoption frees us from an orphan mindset, allowing us to experience the Father’s embrace and worship Him with childlike trust.

This revelation transforms how we worship, moving us from head knowledge to heart connection. The religious leaders of Jesus’ day stumbled over His claim to be the Son of “the Father”, bound by legalism and lists (John 5:18). Their lack of relationship blinded them to God’s love, but the Father invites us to know Him intimately. Romans 5:5 assures us, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (NKJV). As we embrace this truth, our worship becomes a heartfelt response to His love, enabling us to cry out, “Abba, Father,” and experience His peace like a river.
